NIH loan repayment

The 2011 application process for the National Institute of Health’s Loan Repayment Programs is now open, and applications can be found online at www.lrp.nih.gov The LRPs repay the outstanding student loans of researchers who are or will be conducting nonprofit biomedical or behavioral research.

Ford Predoctoral Diversity Fellowships

Ford Predoctoral Diversity Fellowships (Ford Foundation)  

The predoctoral fellowships provide 3 years of support (stipend of $20,000/year plus $2,000 to the institution) to underrepresented minorities for study in research-based PhD programs in American studies, anthropology, archaeology, art and theater history, astronomy, chemistry, communications, computer science, earth sciences, economics, engineering, ethnomusicology, geography, history, international relations, language, life sciences, linguistics, literature, mathematics, performance study, philosophy, physics, political science, psychology, religion, sociology, urban planning, and women's studies. Also eligible are interdisciplinary ethnic studies programs, such as African American studies and Native American studies, and other interdisciplinary programs, such as area studies, peace studies, and social justice.

The Dept of Defense recognizes the need to support the education of America's future scientists and engineers. The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program is part of a concentrated effort to improve the flow of new, highly skilled technical labor into DoD facilities and agencies and to enhance the technical skills of the workforce already in place. Fall 2011 Science To Achieve Results (STAR) Fellowships For Graduate Environmental Study (EPA) 

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as part of its Science to Achieve Results (STAR) program, is offering Graduate Fellowships for master s and doctoral level students in environmental fields of study. The deadline is November 5, 2010 at 4:00 PM for receipt of paper applications, and November 5, 2010 at 11:59:59 PM ET for submittal of electronic applications to Grants.gov. Subject to availability of funding, the Agency plans to award approximately 105 new fellowships by June 30, 2011. Master's level students may receive support for a maximum of two years. Doctoral students may be supported for a maximum of three years, usable over a period of five years. The fellowship program provides up to $42,000 per year of support per fellowship.
